Last December 5 at Christie's in New York, the auction house's famed Magnificent Jewels Event took place, hosting some of the world's most dazzling gemstones to date. Among the auction lots, we noticed two particular pieces that stood out due to their mesmerizing blue hues and stark displays of scintillation.
Among the lots, were brilliant fancy colored diamonds, such as this 8.08 carat cushion cut Fancy Vivid Blue diamond mounted by Bvlgari. On its sides, we also see two triangular colorless diamonds that provide a beautiful contrast effect. The ring was estimated at about 13 to 18 million dollars at the time of the event.
This wasn't the only blue stone though to capture the public's interest. An art deco styled aquamarine and diamond tiara-necklace also took center stage. This dazzling piece had an estimate of about 70,000 to 100,000 USD, but realised a price of 828,500 USD in the end.
The jewelry design was done and signed by Cartier London, and it featured multiple faceting styles of aquamarine (blue beryl) alongside circular and baguette cut diamonds mounted onto a platinum setting.
