Many of these couples have been the envy of millions across multiple countries, from the United States and the UK, to Singapore and the Philippines. Their jewelry is within the collection range of auction masterpieces and museum rarities, however not all of them brought luck in love to these star-crossed lovers.

Kate Middleton’s Blue Sapphire and Diamond Engagement Ring - $500,000

The 12 carat sapphire engagement ring also happened to belong to Prince William's mother; Princess Diana. It stands today as one of the world's most famous blue gemstones, a title most often cornered by legendary diamonds. It was said that the original ring had to be resized by Crown Jeweller, G. Collins and Sons, because it was too large for the Duchess of Cambridge to properly wear on her wedding finger.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Engagement Ring - $275,000 and $1.5 million

The Mission Impossible actor isn't just famous for his on-screen charisma as a superspy, but also for his taste in brilliant diamonds. The engagement ring he previously bought for ex-partner; Katie Holmes boasted an impressive 5 carat oval diamond, surrounded by another 6 carats worth of smaller diamonds. The 7 carat emerald-cut diamond, which is set in platinum metal was said to cost three quarters of a million dollars by Jeweler Jean Dousett. Clooney's 20-year search to find the "one" seemed to have culminated in his proposal to Amal using this enormous diamond. The star of "Gravity" sure impressed the public with his exquisite taste in gemstones.

Mariah Carey and James Packer's Engagement Ring - $10 million

Despite being possibly the most expensive engagement ring ever recorded throughout history, the proposal of James Packer to Mariah Carey never really did pan out, being cancelled after just several months. The gigantic 35 carat emerald-cut diamond left its ownership rights to Carey, as Packer was the one who initiated the cancellation of the marriage.

Paris Hilton and Paris Latsis - $4.7 million

One of the supposedly largest weddings in the history of business tycoons, was supposed to belong to Paris Hilton and then-fiance Paris Latsis. Their 24 carat canary yellow diamond engagement ring was indeed a sight to behold. Fancy colored yellow diamonds have been picking up in fashion trends over the past decade. Hilton and Latsis' engagement period ended abruptly thought after just 4 months since the proposal back in 2005.
